Western Educational Adventures wanted to create a set of unique Victoria, Vancouver Island and British Columbia programs for the winter season, that, like our other warmer weather programs, would create life-enhancing, learning experiences for every person involved. So we developed our teen leadership program and our educational Vancouver Island based surf program, various winter camps and downhill ski programs. WEA's winter programs expose and educate our participants to new areas, cultures and unique natural environments. By utilizing a Vancouver Island ski hill that offers unique terrain features and snow conditions, we are able to provide our participants with life enhancing learning experiences and rapidly improve both their skiing abilities and on snow decision-making skills.
Description: An outdoor leadership program for teens like no other! This program is designed to give an alternative to team sports and teach teens valuable life skills like leadership, planning, budgeting, responsibility, etc. Teens attend one session per week where they plan outdoor activities and events such as backcountry camping trips, ski trips, surfing trips, snowshoeing trips, winter wilderness trips, kayaking, canoeing, hiking, orienteering, geocaching, fundraising, etc. They may also get the opportunity to test their new leadership skills while working with younger children. This program is what the teens make it!
**Please note that most of the activities the teens plan take place on dates other than their weekly meetings. Each activity may carry an additional cost that will either be picked up by additional fees and/or by participant fundraising.**
